Lois Annette Cole, 104, of La Monte, MO passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on July 20, 1917 in Jewell County, KS the daughter of Terry Amos and Elsie (Warren) Waugh, who have preceded her in death.
On November 5, 1937 in Lawrence, KS she was united in marriage to Ernest Arlin Cole, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1997.
Lois started the first private kindergarten in La Monte in 1958. She was a member of the La Monte United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and served in many different positions. Lois was involved in the Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts in Louisburg and a 4-H Leader in Pettis County, MO. Lois volunteered with The Habitat for Humanity and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, a 65 year member of the Louisburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Red Hat Society in Sedalia. She was a proud member and Lay Leader of the United Methodist Church, La Monte and enjoyed doing mission work. Lois received the 2002 Outstanding Senior Volunteer award from the Center for Human Services, Sedalia.
Lois is survived by four children, Terry Williams (Larry) of St. Louis, Betty Blakely (Toby) of La Monte, Peggy Pearson (Parker) of Savannah, GA, and Sharon Guerra of Denver, CO; a sister, Esther Ward of Pryor, OK; nine grandchildren, Angela, Karen (Ted), Sharon (Brad), Dawna (Pat), Kristina, Tonya, Cindy (Tarl), Megan (Bill) and Darren; 25 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Waugh; three sisters, Vera Isom, June Everhart, and Terry Fickel.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the La Monte United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Jackson officiating.
Family will receive friends one half hour prior to service at the church.
Burial will follow service at Louisburg Cemetery, Louisburg, KS.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The United Methodist Church, La Monte.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
