Lew Curt Knox

March 14, 1939 — May 16, 2024

Lew Curt Knox, 85, of Sedalia, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia. He was born on March 14, 1939, in Lincoln, MO, the son of Norman Lee Knox and Helen Louise (Burnett) Knox, who preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Ellen Marie Adams on May 6, 1961, in Harrison, AR, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2019.

Curt was the oldest of eight children. He was raised in the Cole Camp and Lincoln, MO, area. He moved to Sedalia when he married his wife Ellen, of 58 years. Curt worked for DeLongs as a welder and fabricator and later at Alcan Cable in shipping and receiving for 27 years. He retired in 1994, and he and Ellen sold their home and most of their worldly possessions and bought a custom-made 5th-wheel camper trailer and traveled all over the United States for the next ten years, making many new friends along the way. In their later years, they lived close to their families in Sedalia.

Curt enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and boating. He was an avid classic country music fan. Curt was an inventor; if he could think it and draw it out on paper, he could build it. He loved attending car shows, auctions and getting together with family. Curt was a wonderful papa. His grandchildren adored him and loved spending time together.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Coffey and Brenda Countryman, both of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Renee Cusick, Crista Coffey, Rhapsody Coffey (Fiance, Broden Riley), and Dalton Coffey (Fiance, Shelby Blankenship); three brothers, Calvin Knox, of Harrisonville, MO, Jim Knox (Paula) of Windsor, MO, and Doug Knox (Marilyn) of Lincoln, MO; three sisters, Louise Blatterman (Harry) of Cole Camp, MO, Audrey Warman (Gary) of Bates City, MO, and Lesa Culbertson (Jim) of Sedalia, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, Curt was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Spencer officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

A burial will be held at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, MO.
