Leroy "Slim" Meyer, 85, of Sedalia passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on February 20, 1931 in Mora, MO the son of Emil C. and Clara K. (Cordes) Meyer, who preceded him in death.
On December 24, 1952 in Sedalia he was united in marriage to Arlene Snavely, who resides of the home.
Leroy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia. He baptized in March of 1931 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, MO and confirmed in March 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln, MO.
Leroy served his country honorably in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. He then served in the Marine Reserves until 1960. He worked for International Harvester for 45 years and was service manager at the Sedalia and Lincoln Implement Stores. He also worked as a mechanic in Clinton, Marshall and LaMonte locations. Leroy enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets and small figurines. He lived most all of his life in Sedalia and the surrounding areas.
Besides his wife Arlene, he is also survived by several cousins and close friends.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethelene Meyer, Elsie Ruth Baker and Marlene Spidell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Kellogg and Pastor Andrew Tessone officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Barry Walter, Jerry Welch, Ruben Twenter, Fred Pfeiffer, Wayne Nierman and Richard Simon.
Honorary bearers will be Pat Twenter, Shirley and Nelson Collins, Laura Beatty, Mary Luukkonen, Don and Louese Bistline, Terri Welch and Linda Simon
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
