Leona B. Payne

Leona B. Payne, 92, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on January 29, 1933, in Green Ridge, MO, the daughter of William Hall and Rosa (Sickler) Hall, who preceded her in death.

On May 3, 1949, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Edward Worley, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2001. Then, on December 1, 1978, in Miami, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Robert Payne, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2009.

Leona was a member of the First Christian Church, Sedalia, where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and Church. She worked at Bothwell Hospital as a Certified Nurses Aid, retiring from there at the age of 62. Leona enjoyed music and was a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club in Sedalia. Leona loved going antiquing with her husband, Bob. For several years, she owned and operated Belles Antique Shop in Dresden, MO. She and her husband, Bob, enjoyed traveling across the country, visiting many out-of-the-way destinations. Later, Leona enjoyed watching golf, college basketball, and the Kansas City Royals. But most of all, Leona loved her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Terry Dean Worley, Patricia Lynn Worley, and Steven Lee Worley and his wife Donna Jean Worley; two grandchildren, Shannan Nicole Teel her husband Christopher Charles Teel and Zachary Edward Worley; two great-grandsons, Henry Steven Teel and Jameson Teel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Leona was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Worley; five brothers, James Marvin Hall, Louis Edward Hall, William Henry Hall, Robert Marshall Hall, and Harold Gene Hall; three sisters, Audrey Jewel Rice, Viola Rose Hall, and Mary Jane Hayes.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the graveside at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Steven Worley, Christopher Teel, and Russell Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
