Obituary For Leon Ivan Bengtson
Leon Ivan Bengtson, 85, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2023. He was born on February 11, 1938, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Theodore Julius Bengtson and Mamie Melinda (Jeffers) Bengtson, who preceded him in death.
On August 3, 1961, in Miami, OK, he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Huls, who resides in the home.
Leon graduated from Colo High School in 1956 and started farming in Colo, Iowa, and continued farming after moving to Missouri until 2004. He then raised puppies until retiring. Leon professed at Malcom Convention as a young child, had meetings in his home for many years, and remained faithful to that choice until the end. He was a faithful elder, brother, and friend who will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife Mary, Leon is survived by nieces and nephews, Gary (Candi) Bengtson, Sandy (Richard) Heaberlin, Noreen (Dan) Zarmbinski, Dwight (Patty) Bengtson, Brian (Becky) Bengtson, and Linda Bender; cousins, Marilyn, Sharon, Donna, and Walter; numerous great nieces and nephews; special friends, Victor and Cheyenne Garnik; and many others.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard Bengtson, Wendell Bengtson, and Edgar Bengtson, and a niece, Karen Bengtson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
The burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery, Sedalia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
