Lela Marie Rodgers (Honey), 93, of Sedalia passed away Tuesday September 5, 2017 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. She was born on July 12, 1924 in Royse City, TX the daughter of Roy Burns and Robbie Ruth (Garner), who preceded her in death.
On February 15, 1969 she was united in marriage to Maurice Calvin Rodgers, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 8, 2017.
Lela worked at Maxine's Maternity & Tot Shop and Sedalia Water Department for many years. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, bird watching and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, James Norton and Kenneth Norton (Deborah) of Sedalia; a daughter, Connie Jo Rodgers of Liberty, MO; five grandchildren, Patrick Wade Norton (Jennifer), Angela Richardson (Daniel), Drew Norton, Zoe Ahlstrom, and Matthew Harding; a brother, Arthur Jack Key of Las Cruces, NM; 11 great grandchildren; three nephews, Danny Burns, Michael Burns, and Kevin Key; two nieces, Kimberly Gilles and Keri Parr.
In addition to her husband Maurice Calvin and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy L. Burns and Robbie E. Key as well as her first husband, James B. Norton.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday September 10, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Downing officiating.
Family visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Smith-Cotton Alumni Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral chapel.
