Laura Berlin, 1977-2024
Laura Catherine Berlin of St. Louis, MO, died on Monday, October 7, 2024, while on vacation in Montreal, Quebec. She was 47.
Laura was born on July 8, 1977, in Sedalia, MO, to Robert D. Berlin and the late Cathy J. (Landes) Berlin. She was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University on a full scholarship. After graduating from Saint Louis University's School of Law, she joined the St. Louis law firm of Dubail Judge in 2003 and made partner in 2014.
Laura loved traveling, the arts, and spending time with loved ones. She was a regular attendee of both the St. Louis Symphony and Cardinals baseball games, and loved nothing more than holding court at her condo's rooftop pool and showing off her favorite downtown hotspots to friends and family. Laura was always the life of the party, whether she was hosting weekend reunions for her college friends, meeting up with her Wednesday night dinner crew, or starting impromptu dance parties with her nieces and nephews. Laura was as generous as she was stubborn, and she was a firm believer in living each day to the fullest, ordering all the extras life had to offer, and always booking a flight for the next adventure.
In addition to her father, Laura is survived by her siblings Aaron (Jill) Berlin of Columbia, MO, Megan (Jeremy) Baker-Katamura of Lee's Summit, MO, and Adam (Erika) Berlin of Hawthorne, NY; nieces Lena Baker and Raina Baker; nephews Sebastian Baker, Corbin Katamura, Grayden Katamura, Breckin Katamura, Quentin Katamura, Lenox Berlin, Ansel Berlin, Andrew (Monica) McGinnis, and Austin (Courtney) McGinnis; aunts Linda Vedder, Janet Thomas, Ann Landes, Nancy Melton, and Marty Osredker; uncles Archie Paul Landes Jr. and Ken (Sandi) Berlin; and 16 cousins.
In addition to her mother, Laura was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Archie and Dorothy (Vansell) Landes, paternal grandparents Herbert and Gertrude (Dorsey) Berlin, and uncle and aunt Franz and Peggy (Rollins) Berlin.
Laura was the godmother of William and Anna Garland, the children of Katherine Garland of St. Louis, MO; Corvin and Sonora Haake, the children of Danelle and Hogan Haake of St. Louis, MO; Lilith and Nora Lewis, the daughters of cousin Sarah and Galen Lewis of Summerfield, NC; Robert and Evelyn Trampier, the children of Joshua Trampier and Jennifer Starbird of St. Louis, MO; and Madison Windsor, the daughter of Stephanie and Jesse Windsor of St. Louis, MO.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, MO, with the Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.
The family will receive visitors from noon until service time at the chapel.
Though Laura adored fresh flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Missouri Citizens for the Arts (mo4arts.org) or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (bcrf.org), a cause she supported in honor of her mother.
