Karen Gaylene Rhoads, 57, of Smithton, MO passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 at her home. She was born on October 2, 1963 in Marshall, MO the daughter of Rev. Robert Wayne Nichols and Delores Jean (Cotton) Nichols, who reside in Fortuna, MO.
On September 17, 1988 in Nelson, MO she was united in marriage to David Russell Rhoads, who resides in the home.
Karen was a 1981 graduate of Versailles High School and graduated from Sedalia School of Hair Styling in Sedalia. Karen was a devoted member of First Baptist Church where she served on the kitchen committee, the nominating committee, and attended the Under Construction Sunday School Class. She worked at a cosmologist at Tiny's Hair Gallery, Brooking Park Geriatric Center, Fantastic Sam's and the Mall Styling Salon. She worked as the store manager at State Beauty Supply. Karen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and watching mystery shows.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Zachary Rhoads of the home; three sisters, Kim McGinnis (Til) of Versailles, MO, Jan Klein (John) of Versailles, and Leslie Nichols of Plano, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Troy Nichols, maternal grandparents, Otis and Gertie Cotton; and her paternal grandparents, Robert Junior and Mildred Nichols.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at First Baptist Church Sedalia, with Pastor Jeremiah Greever officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Olive Branch Cemetery Friday, November 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Cody Nichols, Tiffany Hermeyer, Rachel Rush, Miranda Yoder, Justin Klein, Jacob Klein.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Perks in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
