Obituary For June Doris Depew

June Doris Depew, 97, of Sedalia, passed away on January 12, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community of Sedalia in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born on June 30, 1926, in Albion, NE, the daughter of Ira Headley and Leola (Renken) Headley, who preceded her in death.

June spent her early childhood days in the Sandhills of Nebraska, where she learned the meaning of hard work on the farm. Eventually, the family moved and settled near Tipton, MO, where she attended and graduated from high school. Upon graduation, June moved to Kansas City with her sister Arline to work for Pratt Whitney. She met and married Virgil Bryan, and the couple raised two children. In 1960, she married Edward Depew, adding two more children to the family. They settled in Junction, Kansas, where they operated Long's Department Store for the next 25 years. Upon retirement, they were more than ready to trade the cold plains of Kansas for the warm desert winds of Arizona. Upon the death of her husband, June returned to Missouri to live near family.

She is survived by a daughter, Tona Meyer of Warsaw, a son, Terry Bryan (Linda) of Kansas City, and two stepdaughters, Carol Day and Charlotte Depew, both of Houston, TX.

She had two granddaughters, Shelly Miller (Duke) of Fort Worth, TX, and Angie Tucker (Matt) of Kansas City, and two grandsons, Todd Bryan of Kansas City and Brandon Meyer (Gail) of Sedalia. June was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Max Tucker, Molly Tucker, Grace Tucker, Lily Kate Tucker, Presley Bryan, Delaney Meyer and Carson Meyer. She is also survived by a brother, Darrell Headley (Pauline) of South Dakota.

Her burial will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, where she and Ed will be together again.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
