Obituary For Judy Kay Oakes

Judy Kay Oakes, 72, of Sedalia, MO passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born on December 23, 1947 in Hughesville, MO the daughter of Darwin Bartlett and Marjorie (Rumsey) Bartlett, who preceded her in death.

In August of 1981 in Sedalia, MO she united in marriage to Dale E. Oakes, who resides in the home.

Judy worked at various manufactures in Sedalia including Kelsey-Hayes, Jensens Manufacturing, and Rival Manufacturing. Judy loved her dogs Queenie and J.R., and spending time outdoors working in her flower and rose gardens. She enjoyed decorating and re-modeling her home. Judy especially enjoyed her weekends driving around Sedalia going to garage sales. She was known for always staying busy, never sitting still and always striking up a conversation with anyone she came in contact with.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Scott Hughes (Donna) of Sedalia; a step-son, Bruce Oakes of Clinton, MO; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four brothers, David Bartlett (Susan) of Sedalia, Jimmy Bartlett of Stover, Ronnie Bartlett of Pilot Grove, Tommy Bartlett of Sedalia; four sisters, Joyce Fox (Fred) of Sedalia, Darlene Poindexter of Sedalia, Pam Bartlett of Sedalia, and Joetta Fisher (Bill) of Hughesville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Hughes and Sondra Mullins; a brother, Wayne Bartlett.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2020 at Hopewell Cemetery, rural Sedalia on EE highway with Rev. Jeff Randleman officiating.

A visitation and service will be announced at a later date at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Devin Hughes, Marissa Hughes, Gage Mullins, Fred Fox, Chad McNeal, and Matthew Mullins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
