Judith Marlene Brocksmith

September 16, 1955 — January 5, 2025

Judith Marlene (Judy) Brocksmith, 69, of Sedalia, passed away on January 5, 2025, at her home in Sedalia, MO. She was born on September 16, 1955, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Vivian M. Ford, who preceded her in death.

Judy was raised in Kansas City, MO, but lived most of her life in or around the Sedalia area. In 1986, Judy completed classes at the American College of Hair Design in Sedalia. Judy spent many years doing what she loved in various salons before opening her at-home salon to continue serving her family and friends.

Judy's love for her hobbies was infectious. She adored playing card games and regularly attended card parties with friends. Her passion for crocheting was evident in the beautiful afghans and baby blankets she lovingly made for all new arrivals. She was an avid reader and cherished her many TV shows. In recent years, she surrounded herself with her lifelong friends and created the "Old Ladies Club," which consisted of friendships as long as 52 years. They had "porch parties" for their birthday and holiday celebrations.

Judy's love for her family and friends was boundless. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Bobby) Donnell of Lithia, FL; granddaughter, Addison (Andrew) Donnell-Brockman of Land O'Lakes, FL; grandson, Tanner Donnell, of Land O'Lakes, FL; great-grandson, Grayson Brockman; best friends, Cindy Layton of Sedalia, MO and Pennie Wisdom of Calhoun, MO; sister, Kaye Mathis of Independence, MO; brother, Ronald (Carol) Ford of Independence, MO; a special niece, Ashley Layton of Sedalia, MO; special nephew, Zackary Layton of Gladstone, MO; and honorary grandchildren Evelyn, Kylie and Tyler.

Besides her mother, Judy is also preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon (Doc) Jenkins, and Perry (PJ) Brocksmith; a granddaughter, Caitlin Donnell; two sisters, Anna Faye Ford and Eula Mae Clevenger; and two brothers, Edward Ford and Thomas Ford.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
