Joyce Kay Wright

Joyce Kay Wright, 66, of Sedalia, MO passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 5, 1954 in Sedalia, the daughter of Lewis Russell Wheeler and Augusta Lena (Schnakenberg) Wheeler, who preceded her in death.

Joyce was educated in Sedalia and attended Saint Paul’s Lutheran School, Smith Cotton High School, and State Fair Community College. She spent her years working for The Children’s Therapy Center and the Center for Human Services until her retirement in December 2019. Joyce was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include three children, Justin Wright (Kari) of Windsor, Jordyn Shirky (Shad) of Otterville, and Tate Williams (Kiersten) of Sedalia; ten grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Mason, Jack, Rose, Hannah, Weston, Coleson, Brecken, and Benjamin; and a sister, Jan McCracken (Steve) of Harrisburg, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Wright.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Boatman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the chapel.

Burial will be at Flat Creek Cemetery, rural Sedalia, MO

Urn bearers will be Grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in care of the funeral home.
