Joyce Bryant

Joyce S. Bryant, 87, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at BRHC, Sedalia. She was born on November 6, 1929 in LaMonte, MO, the daughter of H. Edwin and Della Rae (Hutchison) Patrick, who preceded her in death.

She was married to Ed Bryant on September 19, 1987 in Sedalia, MO.

Joyce's younger years were spent helping on the farm, especially when her six brothers were serving in Word War II. She was acknowledged in the local paper when, at age 13, she harvested 100 acres of wheat and oat crops on the family farm by herself and then cutting a crop of oats for a neighbor. Later she worked at Lake City Arsenal and then as a bartender for various establishments in the Sedalia area. In 1995 she went to work for Interstate Studios, retiring from there in 2013. During their marraige, Joyce and Ed were active in the Lion's Club and American War Dads.

A younger Joy enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends, and playing the piano. Later in life, she occupied her time reading, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and playing games on her notepad. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with family and friends.

She is survived by her six children, Judy Rollert (Allen) of Smithville, Linda Warren (Ellis) of Daytona Beach, FL, Janice Phillips (Ron), Terry Hopkins (Bobby), Phillip Yankee (Janet) the three of Sedalia, and Wayne Yankee (Gayle) of San Jose, CA; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will deeply miss her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her six brothers, Gene, Jerry, Dave, Joe, Jim, and Bob Patrick, and one sister, Bernice Wing.

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Private burial of ashes will be at LaMonte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of the donor's choice as Joy loved dogs and always had one or more as her companion.

"God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, 'Come with me.' With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best."

The family and friends of this proud independent woman will miss her deeply.
