Obituary For Joy Thompson

Joy Alene Thompson, 67, of Knob Noster passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Sweet Springs Villa, Sweet Springs, MO. She was born on August 6, 1947 in Wichita, KS, the daughter of A.J. Whiteside and Helen (Gettle), who both preceded her in death.

Joy attended Heartland Baptist Church in Knob Noster, MO.

Joy was a private person who enjoyed music. She especially enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard. Joy loved reading, spending time with her dogs, and embroidery. Every once in a while she enjoyed watching a good movie.

Joy is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Fizer (Frank) of Marshall and Sarah Thompson of Knob Noster; one brother, Wayne Whiteside; seven grandchildren, Jessica, John, Roy, James, Justin, Seth and Robbie; three great grandchildren, Adriana, Annalynn, and Kal-El; and her special friend of 23 years, Charles Gottschalk.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Wampler Cemetery in rural Knob Noster. Rev. Greg Morris will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the donor’s choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
