Obituary For Joseph Vodicka, Jr.

Joseph Frank Vodicka, Jr., 89, of Sedalia passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at his home in Sedalia, surrounded by family. He was born on October 29, 1926 in Karlin, MO, the son of Joseph F. Vodicka, Sr. and Genoefa H. Dvorak, who preceded him in death. On August 13, 1955 he was united in marriage to Mary E. "Betty" Rychlik, who survives of the home. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He worked for Fischer's Concrete for 45 years. Joe and Betty owned and operated Covered Bridge Flowers for 18 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joe was a kind, hard working man, loved being with his family, had a smile on his face for everyone, and could dance at the drop of a hat. Besides his wife, Betty, he is survived by four daughters, Terri Paul (Dennis), Toni Pirtle (Craig), Tammi Kreisel (Mike), all of Sedalia and Joani Larimore (Tracy) of Green Ridge; ten grandchildren, Brandi LaCasse (Matt), Robby Paul (Katherine), Angela Adams (Nathan), Adam Pirtle, Shane Paul (Kim), Megan Kreisel, Garrett Larimore (Sara), Stephanie Paul, Ryan Paul, Laurel Larimore; 8 great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Jonathan Griffin, Madison Canon, Mason Paul, Emery and Kate Paul, Libby LaCasse, and Amelia Adams; three sisters, Angie Corbin and Sally Corbin (Bud) of Willard, MO, and Adele Quier of Frontenac, KS; one brother, Ed Vodicka of Bolivar, MO. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jacobs and Frances Hubbert; and a brother, Charles Vodicka. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Mark Miller, C.PP.S and Father Geoffrey Brooke, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m., prior to visitation. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to, St. Patrick's Church Maintenance Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
