Joseph Paul Gibson

Joseph Paul Gibson, 60, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at his home in Sedalia. He was born on April 6, 1963, in Sedalia, the son of William and Hisae Gibson.

On May 9, 2009, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Sandra Gayelene Butler, who resides in the home.

Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He liked spending his time at Truman Lake with his buddy Binder. He worked for LaFarge Quarry in Sedalia for several years. He later was a corrections officer for several years, working at the Boonville Correctional and Tipton Correctional Center.

Besides his wife, Gayelene, and mother, Hisae, Joe is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Pulupa and her husband, Patrick; two grandchildren, Olivia and Benjamin; two brothers, Norman Gibson and his wife Jenny, and Lyndon Gibson; one sister, Cheryl Gibson and her husband Paul Cuddy; one step-daughter, Robin Butler; two step-sons, D.J. Butler and his wife Brenda, and Austin Butler and his partner Yunior Martinez; four step-grandchildren, Olivia, Lauren, and Kash Butler, and Harrison Cover, and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his father, William, Joe is also preceded in death by his uncle, Marvin Gibson.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St., Sedalia.

Honorary bearers will be Randy Klein, Joe Klein, Matt Buerky, and Jim Pierce.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
