Obituary For John Riley "Bull" Higgins

John Riley "Bull" Higgins, 86, of Sedalia, MO passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021. He was born on September 22, 1935, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Cecil Howard Higgins and Opal Irene (Busker) Higgins, who preceded him in death.

On July 1, 1955, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Byrd, who resides in the home.

John was a 1953 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He worked at ADCO Inc. and retired in 1997 after 44 years. John was a Master Mason for many years. He was an avid baseball and softball player on several teams and was inducted into the fast-pitch hall of fame in 1987. John went to the National Semi-Pro baseball team in Wichita, KS in 1962. He coached several baseball and softball teams for his son and daughter. John loved to play golf. He especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Randy Higgins of Sedalia; a daughter, Marcia Smith (Barry) Florence, MO; a brother, Donald Higgins of Pryor, OK; a sister, Lucy Turner of Des Moines, IA, and Patsy Raybourn (Bill) of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Tara Bolling, Dalton Smith, Blair Higgins, and Brooke Higgins; three great grandchildren, Damon Montes, Kylee Jones, and Makenna Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 17, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Steve Bartlett officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Inurnment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital in St. Louis, MO in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
