Obituary For John R. Hockaday

John R. Hockaday, 71, of Sedalia, MO passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 20, 1949 in Sedalia, the son of William Thomas Augustus Hockaday and Edith Beryl (Young) Hockaday, who preceded him in death.

On December 12, 1974 in Miami, OK he was united in marriage to Pamela L. Venable, who resides in the home.

In 1974 he married Pam Venable and shortly after started a family. He began working at Pittsburgh Corning Fiberglass and continued there for 30+ years until eventually retiring in 2007. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, sister, children and grandchildren. He loved fishing, boating, story-telling and listening to bluegrass music. He never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it and loved serving the Lord.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sonya Fogle of Columbia, MO and Angela Oswald of Lee's Summit, MO; a sister, Shirley Laramie of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren, Grant, Gabe and Genna Fogle of Columbia, MO and Landon and Julia Oswald of Lee’s Summit, MO, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.

Praying for all of you. John was a inspiration to everyone's live he touched. I was blessed to have him in my life, his faith made me a better person. The last time I saw him he told me where Jesus was for the days after his resurrection. It made my faith stronger. When we spoke last and said goodbye he was heading home. Love you ❤️
