Obituary For John F. Wolf

John Wolf, 76, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 23, 1945, to Sylvester and Helen Wolf, who preceded him in death.

John was raised in Tipton Missouri. He attended Catholic school as a boy and was a member of St. Andrews Church growing up. He was active in high school and lettered in multiple sports. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he would spend time in Australia, Hawaii, and Vietnam.

On August 12, 1967, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Diane Bennett, who preceded him in death on October 31, 2020.

John moved to Sedalia when he married and would remain there for the rest of his life. After returning home from the Navy, John went to work at Fischer Industries in Tipton until they closed. Soon after, he would begin working for Maxion Wheels and would remain there until he retired.

As a younger man, John loved to play softball with friends and co-workers as well as golf. He continued to play golf long after he hung up his softball cleats and was a long-time member of the Tipton Country Club. From coaching to cheering from the stands, when his sons were younger and played sports, he never missed one of their games. John loved old movies and would often watch the same ones over and over, especially movies with Elvis or John Wayne. He grew up a St. Louis Cardinals fan, although as an adult was known to cheer on both the Cards and the Royals. He was also a Kansas City Chiefs fan and could be found yelling at the TV most Sundays each fall.

He leaves to cherish, two sons, Derek (Jules) Wolf of Bozeman, MT and Brandon (Tammy) Wolf of Sedalia, MO; a sister, Mary Clifford, of Jefferson City, MO; three grandchildren, Carson Wolf, Colten Ditton (Candace) and Kelton Hunter; three great grandchildren, Kayden Ditton, Kinsley Ditton, and Mason Hunter; and two grand-dogs, Fletcher and Eugene.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Wolf and James Wolf.

A Celebration of Life gathering with family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
