Obituary For John Dean Petree
John Dean Petree, 73, of Sedalia, MO passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Truman Medical Center in Columbia, MO. He was born on March 3, 1948, in Sedalia, MO the son of John Norman Petree Sr., who preceded him in death, and Mable Lucille (Roberts) Stephenson, who resides in Florida.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1965 until 1972 during the Vietnam War. John worked as a computer programmer, owning and operating Sedalia Typewriter for several years. John also worked as a prison guard for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 15 years. After retirement, John enjoyed taking care of his animals and going fishing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Michael John Petree; a daughter, Shelly Petree; a grandson, Antonio G. Petree (Alysa); three great granddaughters, Rheagen, Emma, and Cora; two half brothers, John Petree, Jr. and James Petree; a half sister, Lisa Rivers; five step sisters, Abbie Turner, Sheryl Michael, Theresa Wolf, Karla Kast, and Missie Hayworth.
A Celebration of John's Life and gathering of family and friends, will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO with full military honors by the U.S. Army and Sedalia VFW #2591.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
