John Spencer Callaway, 67, of Sedalia went home on Friday, December 7, 2018 to join the ones who left before him. He was born on June 3, 1951 in Kansas City the son of William Edward Callaway, Sr. and Kate Lee (Borgman) Callaway Robertson, who preceded him in death.
John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Callaway Concrete Co. in Warrensburg for many years. John was an avid Chiefs fan who enjoyed staying stoned while farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, looking for arrowheads and morel mushrooms. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. John was a very giving man, never expecting anything in return. A true heart of gold that will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Others waiting to meet him again include, significant other, Patricia Callaway; a daughter, Crystal Bentley; son-in-law, Rick Bentley all of Sedalia; eldest son, Joseph Sivils; daughter-in-law, Amber Silvis, of Warrensburg; youngest son, Josh Stevenson of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren, Zepphrey, Asenath, Trisha, Cassandra, Josh, Renny, Nichole, Joseph JR., Aleea, Bentley, and Anna; four great grandchildren; Spencer, Phoebe, Madeline, and Makayla; five brothers; David and Robert Callaway, Bob and Troy Robertson, and Wayne Howery; three sisters, Kathy Sartin, Theresa Callaway and Deann Adorno; and many nieces and nephews and friends who were considered family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Jr. and Buddy Callaway; and his step father, Donald Lee Robertson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 18999 Woodland Rd. Sedalia, MO 65301.
