John David Bunch Jr.

John David Bunch Jr., 74, of Herculaneum, MO, formerly of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Jefferson Barracks Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on March 19, 1950, in Sedalia, the son of John David Bunch Sr. and Ruth Earlene (Sisemore) Bunch, who preceded him in death.

On December 8, 1979' in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Melanie Jean Mcdonough, who resides in the home.

John attended school in Sedalia until his sophomore year when he moved to Florida, where he graduated from Bradenton High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He later started working at Mopac in 1979 in Sedalia, MO and was transferred to De Soto, MO, in 1983. They changed their name to Union Pacific, and he retired in 2012. Additionally, he became a Mason in 1986 and a Shriner in 1987. His love for racecars and racing led him to move to Florida with Tom Fisher. Eventually, they operated a shop in Sedalia, where he spent his free time working on race cars and attending races.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by four sons, John D. Bunch, III (Sarah) of Festus, MO, Mark Lee Bunch (Maddy) of Kansas City, MO, Daniel Bunch (Amanda) of Waynesville, MO, and Sean Bunch (Jodi) of DeSoto, MO; ten grandchildren, Haley, John David, Alexis, Jane, Nora, Logan, Ryan, Carson, Hannah, and Nathan; two brothers, Mark Bunch of Sedalia and Steve Bunch (Rosie) of Sedalia; two sisters, Kathy Baker of Sedalia, and Sherry Johns of Pleasant Hill, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Bunch; a son, Steven Warren Bunch; a sister-in-law, Annette Bunch; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at High Point Cemetery in Hughesville, MO, with complete military honors by the United States Marine Corps, Sedalia VFW Post #2591, and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Pallbearers will be John D. Bunch, III, Mark Bunch, Daniel Bunch, Sean Bunch, Mark Bunch, and Steve Bunch.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
