Joan Mae Wishard

Joan Mae Wishard was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She left this world on February 28th, 2021 at age 62.

On August 9th, 1958 Joan was born to Edward and Joan Reidy in Elmhurst, IL. She was a 1977 graduate of Benet Academy in Lisle, IL. Joan fell in love and married the late James Durward Wishard on May 3rd, 2003. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband, James Durward Wishard and is survived by step-mother, Marsha Reidy; siblings- Edward, Patrick, Shawn, John, Michael, and Joseph; children, Daniel (wife-Angie, grandchildren- MacAllister, Callahan, Vespyr, Alldridge), Trevor (grandchildren- Avery, Londyn, Shelby), Jamie (husband- Jason, grandchildren- Madalynn, Jason Jr., Maddox, McKenzie) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A lover of people and animals alike, Joan was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. “Born from the school of hard knocks” Joan was resilient in overcoming adversity and handling whatever challenges life threw her way. She was known by many as a hard worker and lovingly cared for Durward in his final years as his primary caretaker. Her devotion and love to her three children and 11 grandchildren were unsurpassed, giving everything that she could throughout her life towards their health and happiness. A Celebration of Life will be held by family later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sedalia Animal Shelter on her behalf.
