Jimmie Charles Wise

Jimmie Charles Wise, 84, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his home in Sedalia. He was born on June 29, 1940, in Pettis County, MO, the son of Charles F. Wise and Ruth E. (Henderson) Wise, who preceded him in death.

On June 26, 1993, in Hughesville, MO, he was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Steele, who resides in the home.

Jimmie attended Bothwell Elementary School and proudly graduated from Hughesville High School with the class of 1958. After high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. In addition to farming, Jimmie and his brother Eddie co-owned and operated Wise Implement Company in Sedalia. Later, he worked as a sales representative for the local International Harvester dealership. For several years, he and his best friend, Leon Wells, ran the Jack Branch Fur Company in Sedalia. He later owned and operated Wise Walnut Hulling.

Jimmie was actively involved in his community. He served as a former sexton and board member of Mt. Herman Cemetery and was a dedicated member of the Spark Plug Collectors of America. He was also a former member of the IL-MO, IA-MO, and MoKan Antique Engine and Tractor Clubs. Additionally, he was a long-time member of the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association, where he exhibited for over 50 years. Jimmie also served as Vice President of the Mid-Missouri Antique Power & Collectibles Association.

A passionate collector and enthusiast, he was a charter member and early board member of the Missouri Chapter No. 1 of the International Harvester Collectors Club and an early member of the West Central Missouri Vintage Auto Club. Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Jimmie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and fur trapping.

In addition to his wife, Jimmie is survived by two sons, Charles Wise and Mike Clark both of Sedalia; a stepdaughter, Amy Lancaster (Mark) of Baton Rouge, LA; seven grandchildren, Coty, Ashley, MaKayla, Jaiden, Montana, Mikiah, and Mark, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, T-Aire and Cobain; a brother, Jon Wise (Sandy) and a sister, Ruth Ann Mullins both of Hughesville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Wise, and a sister, Barbara Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Rob Sisney officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at Mt. Herman Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Eric Schroeder, Mike McCutchen, Mike Mullins, Mike Zeisset, Jim Sneed, and Jeremy Wise.

Honorary bearers will be Larry Cloud, Jim and Brenda Thompson, Patty Smith, and his grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Herman Cemetery Association in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
