Obituary For Jimmie Dale Higgins

Jimmie Dale Higgins, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday August 23, 2021, at Katy Manor Nursing home in Pilot Grove, MO.

Jimmie was born December 31, 1935, in Sedalia, MO the son of Scott and Elizabeth Higgins, who preceded him in death.

On January 2, 1976, in Otterville, MO he was united in marriage to Betty Alice Oswald Higgins, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2021.

Jimmie was an excellent hunter, fisherman, and bowler. His hobbies included spending time with his family, his cat Sammie, tending to his farm and tinkering in the barn and shop. He was a World Champion Horse Trainer winning many awards throughout his career.

Jimmie is survived by four children: daughter, Dr. Margaret Rene’ Watring Yoesel (Phil) of Warrenton MO, and sons, Mark Leslie Watring (Dana) of Sedalia, MO, Brian Staats (Cami) of Chippewa Falls, WI and Bobby Staats (Kristine) of Chippewa Falls, WI; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Rachel Marie Thompson (Jim), Parker and Maren of Coronado, CA, Joshua Erich Fox (Whitney), Lola, Ryder, Bristol, of Warrenton, MO, Felicity Suzanne Cerullo (Adam) of Belton, MO; a sister, Bina Copper of La Monte; sister-in-law, Virginia Palmer of Sedalia and sister-in-law, Sue Oswald Peoples of Otterville.

A graveside memorial is scheduled for Sunday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Otterville IOOF Cemetery.

Honorary bearers are Josh Fox (grandson), Jim Thompson (grandson-in-law), Adam Cerullo (grandson-in-law), Steve Harvey (nephew), Troy Harvey (nephew), Rick Harvey (nephew), and Roger Stuedle (nephew).

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Otterville IOOF Cemetery, PO Box 111, Otterville MO 65348.
