Jerry Dale Parker, 77, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on February 12, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. He was born on June 6, 1947, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Ovid Dale and Annabelle (Ream) Parker, who preceded him in death.
On February 5, 1966, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Jolene Miesner, who preceded him in death on May 4, 1990.
Jerry spent his early childhood north of Sedalia before moving to town. He worked for Ralph Viebrock Construction at age 18 for 27 years before operating his own dozer and subbing out to B & P Excavating. He built his own farm north of Georgetown on Parker Road.
He loved attending the races with Jake Dillon and his brothers, driving through the fairgrounds, and eating breakfast with his friends, Paul Young, Jerry Paige, and Don Jurgenson. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, setting lines out for fishing, coon hunting, and spending time out on muddy creek banks. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his animals.
Jerry is survived by two children, Jennifer S. Franklin of Corder, MO, and J.D. Parker and his wife, Jennifer M. Parker of Hughesville, MO; two sisters, Diana Dennis of Tulsa, OK, and Rebecca (Susie) Hudson of Sedalia, MO; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Jerry is preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard E. Parker and James (Jimmy) M. Parker, both of Sedalia, MO.
A funeral will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO, with pastor David Bannister officiating.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO., at a later date.
Honorary bearers will be Don Jurgenson, Bill McMahon, Randy Dillon, and Paul Young.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter, or Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
