Obituary For Jeanna Sims-McKernon

Jeanna Sims-McKernon, 35, of Sedalia, MO passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on April 27, 1986 in Sedalia, the daughter of Eugene and Genice Sims, who preceded her in death.

On April 10, 2021 in Sedalia, MO she was united in marriage to Angela McKernon, who resides in the home.

Jeanna was a God fearing woman and a child of God. She loved spending time with her family. Jeanna loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs, arts and crafts, and traveling anywhere out of town. She and her brother Buddy had their own softball team that they enjoyed coaching together. Jeanna was an avid youth mentor.

Survivors include a son, Malachi Sims of Sedalia; two daughters, Diamond Sims of Sedalia and Indiah Sims of Sedalia; a granddaughter, Leilani Sims; six sisters, Glenda Marsh (Jack) of Springfield, MO, Sydney Holt of Kansas City, MO, LaTwila Sims of Lompoc, CA, LaToya Sims of Sedalia, Cassandra Chappell (Zavian) of Lompoc, CA, Angela Sims-Gray of Las Vegas, NV; four brothers, Charles Ross (Phyllis) of Salina, KS, Eugene "Buddy" Sims of La Monte, MO, Maurice Byrd (Misti), of Sedalia and Byron Byrd (Cindy) of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins including, Jenna Sims, LeKeya Byrd-Dodson, Alizae Wazir, Tateana Wazir, Alexandria Vasquez, and Rhena Hawkins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Alonzo Byrd and Maurice Byrd (infant brother); a sister, Darla Sims; and a great niece, Jazmen Azeez; a brother-in-law, Tyson Holt.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Elder Charles Ross and Rev. Phyllis Ross officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
