Jean Rice, 67, of Windsor, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at Windsor Health Care and Rehab. She was born on November 8, 1947 in Warrensburg, Missouri, a daughter of Harry L. and Nina Pauline (Street) Riggs, who preceded her in death. On September 24, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Marvin Rice, who survives of the home.
Jean was a wonderful, loving mother, supportive wife, and was well-known for being an excellent cook. She won several chili cook-offs. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family and was always a source of encouragement. Jean was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor, Missouri where she remains a member.
She is also survived by one daughter, Sandra Rice of Sedalia, and her companion Michael Banning of Columbia, Missouri; five sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hicks, Jenelle Berry (John), Jaynee Fletchall (Earl), and Norlou Lemens, all of Sedalia, and Erma Riggs of Columbia, MO; and one brother-in-law, Melvin Rice (Sandy) of Sedalia.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy J. Culley; and two brothers, Bobbie Riggs and Harry Dean Riggs.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Justin Wright officiating.
Visitation will be at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Green Ridge Cemetery in Green Ridge, MO.
Pallbearers will be Mike Banning, JC Mahnken, Lyle Street, Larry Street, Wes Brockman, and Michael Rice.
Honorary bearers will be Karen Brockman, Paul Kelly Brown, Steve Brown, and Carol Ann Mahnken
