Obituary For Jay Wilson Weaver

Jay Wilson Weaver, Jr. 75, of Smithton, MO passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on April 20, 1946 in Kansas City, MO the son of Shellie Wilson Weaver Sr. and Lillian (Johnson) Stafford-Weaver, who preceded him in death.

On July 16, 1965 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Chiotos, who preceded him in death on May 23, 1999.

Jay was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Sedalia. He worked as a Farm Hand/Kennel Owner and as a hired hand for John Wagenknecht and Albert Reine. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors. Jay and his wife owned and operated Elk Horn Creek Kennel and enjoyed going coon hunting together.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelly Weaver of Smithton; a nephew, J.R. Schmidt of Oregon; and a niece, Jennifer Schmidt of Independence, MO.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister, LaWanna Schmidt; and nephew, Richard Schmidt.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Albert Reine officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Gary Wiggins, Drew Wagenknecht, Cletus Tagmeyer, Dale Philips, Albert Spellmeyer, and Austin Breining.

Honorary bearers will be J.R. Schmidt, Frank Doogs, and Vance Taylor.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
