Janet Kay Tucker, 70, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. She was born on November 5, 1954, in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Chester Carl Jones and Ardith Jane (Kiser) Jones, who preceded her in death.
On December 23, 1992, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Robert Preston Tucker, who resides in the home.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose kindness and sense of humor warmed the hearts of all who knew her.
Janet worked at Tyson Foods of Sedalia, retiring in 2016 after 22 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, and was a member of the Community of Christ Church. But her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and family.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by six children Jason (Heidi) Schmidt, Dustin (Emily) Schmidt, Casey Schmidt (Grant Leeka), Jarrett (Ashley) Tucker, all of Sedalia, Jeff Tucker of Green Ridge, MO, and Tim Draper of Holden, MO; six grandchildren, Karly (Brandon), Storme, Jackson, Kaelynn, Charles, and Oliver; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Madison; three siblings, Chester Jones, Vern Jones, and Debbie Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a son, Richard Schmidt, Jr., and a sister, Carlene Jones.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marilyn Grechus officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
The burial will be at a later date at McKee Chapel Cemetery, Green Ridge, MO.
Honorary bearers will be Louis Dickman, Jeff Tucker, Tim Draper, Jed Tucker, and Justin Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Boys and Girls Club of West Central Missouri in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
