Obituary For James May

James L. (Fuzzy) May, 83, of Sedalia passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on January 10, 1933 in Sedalia, Missouri the son of Clarence and Nancy E. (Gault) May, who preceded him in death.

On December 31, 1955 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Viola M. Ditzfeld, who survives of the home.

Jim graduated from Smith-Cotton High School before serving his country in the USAF for 20 years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant in 1971. He then worked at Bothwell Regional Health Center in the food service and maintenance departments and retired in 1996. During retirement, Jim could be found playing golf in the afternoon and watching for his lottery numbers in the evening. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, spending time with his family and worshipping at First United Methodist church, where he was a member. One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather.

Besides his wife Viola, Jim is also survived by his children, Deanne and Tom (Robin) May, two grandchildren, Madison and Matthew May, and a brother, Larry May.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gene and Bob May, and two infant children, Timothy and Tina May.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Downing, Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Woods, Mike Johnson, Darrin Young, Bob Hrdlicka, Richard Parker Jr, and Doug Ditzfeld.

Honorary bearers will be George Ditzfeld, Richard Parker, Mike May, Larry May Jr., Max Lewis, and Madison and Matthew May.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, ALS or American Cancer Society in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
