James Carl Dumsday, 73, of Warrensburg, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. He was born on March 30, 1945 in Missouri, the son of Kathrine Dumsday, who preceded him in death.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 until 1968. He was a member of Emmett Avenue Baptist Church in Sedalia. Jimmy worked as a cab driver in the Kansas City area for many years. He enjoyed listening to music, especially country western and gospel music. Jimmy loved to fish and especially loved his family dearly. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting his buddies at Hardee's and walking down memory lane. He could play the harmonica, key board, and guitar.
He is survived by many cousins, including, Gerald Hamby, Jr. "Little Joe", Sara Baker, John Dumsday III (Bonnie), Robert Dumsday (Angie), Richard Dumsday, Betsy Dumsday, Gabrielle Hamby "Gabby", Evelyn Dumsday, Deanna Neff (Danny), Marsha Lefeavers, Robert Dumsday III, John Dumsday IV, and Amanda Dumsday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Dumsday III officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Burial will be at will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO with full military honors conducted by Sedalia VFW Post #2591 and the Missouri Army National Guard Honors Team.
Pallbearers will be cousins.
Honorary bearer will be Danny Fultz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, MO in care of the funeral chapel.
