Jack Edward Swearingin, 77, of Green Ridge, MO passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 4, 1935 in Carrollton, MO, a son of Marvin E. and Helen (Donnigan) Swearingin, who preceded him in death.
On June 25, 1957, he was united in marriage to Willie Ellen Curry, who survives at the home.
Jack and Willie enjoyed traveling, especially to Silver Dollar City. He enjoyed taking video and photos of every trip. Jack loved to read and had an extensive book collection. He was a retired teacher, principal, school administer and coach. He served his country honorably for over 16 years. Serving in the United States Air Force, Korean War and 12 years in the Army National Guard. Jack was a member of the VFW #15026 and The American Legion #1000.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, Penny (Allen) Staley of Washington DC, Van (Denise) Swearingin of Green Ridge, Sherry (Anthony) Schwartz of Smithton, Debbie Stevenson of Columbia, Clint Swearingin of Green Ridge, Dan (Isabel) Swearingin of Pennsylvania and Judy (Nathaniel) Pritchard of Wells, UK; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl Swearingin and his sister and brother in law, Barbara and Doug Falconer.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Chaplain Allen Staley officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in The Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside by VFW Post 2591.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The VFW Post 2591 in care of the funeral chapel.
