Henry (Hank) R. Laramie, 80, of Sedalia passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia. He was born on April 23, 1936 in Maywood, Illinois the son of Ernest and Mildred (Webster) Laramie, who preceded him in death.
On December 30, 1958 in Stone Park, IL, he was united in marriage to Shirley Hockaday for 33 years, who resides in Sedalia.
Hank was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church; the 40&8 of Sedalia; VFW Post #2591 of Sedalia and American Legion Post #642 of Sedalia. He enjoyed building model trains and their lay outs; he was an avid Washington Redskins Football fan; he loved playing golf and watching classic western movies.
Hank served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1977, retiring after 24 years of service. He was very proud of his accomplishments which include the Airman's Medal, Meritorious Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, (3) Presidential Unit Citations, Air Force Outstanding Unit award, (5) Air Force Good Conduct awards, (4) Good Conduct Medals, (2) National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, (9) Vietnam Service Medals, (5) Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbons, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Other than his best friend Shirley, he is also survived by a brother James Laramie (Alice) of Franklin Park, IL; two sisters, Lola Ryan (Dan) Sun City, AZ, and Liz Cristofano of Crystal Lake, IL.; a "2nd son" Steve Serafin, of Philadelphia, PA.; a brother-in-law John Hockaday (Pam) of Sedalia; best buddies, Tony and Jean Gallagher of Sedalia; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Greg Laramie; two brothers, Richard Laramie, Ernest Laramie, Jr.; two sisters, Rosemarie Fugate and Alberta Pivik.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Tony Gallagher officiating, a 40&8 presentation will be conducted during the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Otterville. Full military honors will be conducted by the White Air Force Base Honor Guard and VFW Post #2591, of Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Gary Hockaday, David Hockaday, Cory Smith, Jordan Hockaday, Jim Steele, and Joe Cochran.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to East Sedalia Baptist Church in care of Rea Funeral Home.
