Helen L. McDonald, 89, of Sedalia passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, MO. She was born on October 20, 1927 in Rocky Mount, MO the daughter of Oscar M. and Monte Mae (Jobe) Vanhooser, who preceded her in death. On February 14, 1948, in Rocky Mount, MO she was united in marriage to Bob L. McDonald, who survives of the home. Helen volunteered for many years with the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary and was involved in charitable work with the P.E.O. Club in Sedalia. She loved doing crafts, cooking, traveling and especially loved her family and friends. Besides her husband Bob, she is also survived by three children, Larry McDonald and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, MO, Lin McDonald of Springfield, MO and Robert McDonald and his wife Lynn of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Casey, Deven, and Keara; four great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Vanhooser and his wife Janine of Orrick, MO Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by eight siblings. A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. A private family burial will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of her husband Bob or to a charity of the donor's choice.
