Obituary For Helen Garrison

Helen Marie Garrison, 88, of Smithton, MO, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born on May 09, 1928 in Sedalia, MO, the daughter of Joseph William and Dollie (Eichholz) Anderson, who preceded her in death.

On July 13, 1963 she was united in marriage to Homer Garrison, who preceded her in death.

Flat Creek Baptist Church was Helen's home away from home. She was active in the Harmony Baptist Association and the Jolly Elders. She loved the regular Monday Bible studies. Her family was very important to her. She would attend all the grandchildrens' special events. The joy of her life was raising four amazing boys and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She retired as a cook from Smithton school and was known as Aunt Helen to everyone in the community.

She is survived by her three sons, Michael Garrison (Linda) of Hume, MO, William Garrison (Tracy) of Smithton, and George Garrison (Kathy) of Sedalia; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Garrison; and her brothers George Anderson, James Anderson, and Leonard "Pete" Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO, with Rev. Bill Boatman officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Flat Creek Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Gene Anderson, Paul Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Darrell Garrison, Lynn Garrison, Donnie Sawford, Bob DeHaven and Tom Hatmaker.

Honorary bearers will be Forrest Allen, Duane Schroder, Honce DeHaven, Warren Anderson, Ray Roark, and Dick Klein.

Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
