Heather Kunz(Roerdanz, Deskins), 62, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on June 12, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on March 13, 1962, in Taylorsville, Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Douglas and Dawn Kunz, who preceded her in death.
Heather was a salutatorian of her graduating class in Marquand, MO. She was the first runner-up in Farmington, MO, in the Junior Miss Missouri Competition. She was unanimously voted Molly Marine of her Marine Corps Battalion in South Carolina as she graduated Basic Training. While pregnant with her first child, Julia Dawn, she received her sharpshooter and expert marksmanship badges in Okinawa, Japan, as a radio operator. After being honorably discharged, she moved back to Salt Lake City, UT, and had her second child, Austin Roerdanz. As a loving spouse, she moved with her third baby, Sophia Roerdanz, to Kingsville, OH, to care for Frederick George Roerdanz, the 6th and 7th. After she moved back to Missouri, she had Helen Kathleen. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several roles, including primary chorister, pianist, organist, teacher, and several other roles. She was very active in the community with choirs and schools. She enjoyed participating in Handels Messiah.
Heather is survived by her four children, Julia Dawn Cowell and her husband William, Austin Jakob Roerdanz, Sophia Marie Roerdanz, and Helen Kathleen Roerdanz; ten grandchildren, William, Paisley, Thomas, Bohdan, AnnaMarie, Douglas, George, AmberLeigh Cowell, Connor Roerdanz, and Joanna Hagen; fourteen siblings, Lesa, Heidi, Shaun, Michelle, Nanette, Faith, Isaac, Patrick, Robert, James, Margaret, Helen, Jacqueline, and Karol; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents, Heather was preceded in death by a son, William Douglas Gharing, and a brother, Mark Kunz.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1201 W. Broadway, Sedalia.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
