Obituary For Harry Earl Hammond

Harry Earl Hammond 09/26/1939-11/27/2022

Harry Earl Hammond of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Boone Hospital.

Harry’s wishes were to be donated to the St Louis University Gift of Body Program. Harry joins his ever-loving wife of 61 years, Dixie, in heaven. Additionally, he is welcomed by their son, Jeff, and many others that have gone before him.

He was a fun-loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He did not know a stranger. He really enjoyed talking with others and sharing stories. As he would say, “he could not be more proud of his family.” PawPa loved anytime spent with his grandsons, Joseph and Tyler; granddaughters Alexandra and Adrianne and great-granddaughter Adalynn. While he did not have a chance to meet in person, great-grandson Maddox or great-granddaughter Evie, they have a special place in his heart.

Harry was an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years. One of his many professional accomplishments was being recognized by the State of Missouri for driving over five million miles without an accident or citation. He will certainly be missed by many.

While his time on earth has come to an end, we know he is enjoying a pain-free eternity with God. You’re the best Dad; we love you!

There will be a family celebration of life gathering held at a later date.

I'm so sorry for the Hammond family's loss, for everyone's loss. But I know Harry is where he is meant to be, with Dixie and Jeff. Harry was a very kind person. I loved hearing about his over the road stories and the students he wrote to during his many road trips, and he even visited them. A very special man that will be missed by many.

I had a special place in my heart for Harry even before he became my father-in-law. I would love when Harry would tell his stories we would do nothing but listen they were very interesting, I especially loved when we told him that his grandson, Tyler would share his same middle name. He was very proud . Harry Earl I will miss you deeply. Love you with all my heart. Love Dina Marie

I will never forget Uncle Harry's big hugs and enthusiastic story telling. For years, as a child, he had me convinced that Batman was his neighbor! I always looked forward to visits from the Hammonds growing up. He was always the life of the party and the boys always made me smile. Uncle Harry, you so be missed greatly.

Pawpa was one of the most kind hearted, selfless souls who would do anything for the benefits of others. He was the best grandpa a boy could ask for and would light up the room with his smile and stories he would use to tell. i'll miss him so much, Love you pawpa!
