Obituary For Harold Lee Burt
Harold Lee Burt, 81, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born on September 23, 1941, in Deepwater, MO, the son of Radford Q. Burt and Helen L. (Manuel) Burt, who preceded him in death.
On June 4, 1966, at East Broadway Christian Church, Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Kathy Meyers, who resides in the home.
Harold was a 1961 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from December 1963 until December 1965 during the Vietnam War, serving in Okinawa, Japan. Harold worked for Missouri Public Service as an Equipment Operator, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Sedalia VFW Post #2591. Harold was a member and Trustee of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He served as Treasurer for the Muddy Creek Trollers Fishing Club. Harold enjoyed being a member of the 50/65 CB Club, where he was known by his handle "H.L. Fuzzy." Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandsons and family.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by two children, Lori Leicher (Daren) of Hughesville and Andy Burt (Tonya) of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Truman Leicher, Lincoln (Bailey) Burt, Leyton Burt, and Colt Leicher; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Burt and Janice (Burt) Harding.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Harper officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
The burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Pallbearers will be Truman Leicher, Colt Leicher, Lincoln Burt, Leyton Burt, Charlie Meyers, Jay Meyers, and Chris Reynolds.
Honorary bearers will be Jim Gregory, Don Moore, Allan Batchelor, Bob Manuel, and Dwight Burt.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Missouri Fischer House, 800 Hospital Dr. Columbia, MO 65201, or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
