Guy Fleming Rumsey Jr, 89, of Sedalia passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1927 in Pettis County, MO the son of Guy Fleming Rumsey Sr. and Cleo Agatha (Karrick) Rumsey, who preceded him in death.
On December 27, 1950 in Hastings, NE he was united in marriage to Ann Pearl Dubose, who resides in the home.
A residential/commercial builder by trade, Guy enjoyed his talent most when helping others and his church with his skills while his wife Pearl worked alongside him. He especially enjoyed building cabinetry and furniture for others.
When Guy accepted Christ in 1958 he immediately and wholeheartedly embraced his faith and became involved in the expansion of God’s Kingdom in whatever way he could. Although not looking for it, over time he became a leader and role model to many people, not only as a deacon and teacher in churches they attended, but as a Christ centered husband, father and business partner. Guy was a simple man, unassuming, having a gentle spirit, who believed in doing an honest day’s work and honoring God and his family.
Besides his wife Pearl, he is also survived by a sister, Joy Wheeler (Sonny) of Great Falls, MT, three children, Guy Dan Rumsey (Debbie) of Smithton, MO, Paula Ann Utter of Kansas City, MO, and Shane Timothy Rumsey (Kris) of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Katy Park Baptist Church, Sedalia.
