Obituary For Glenn Mishler

Glenn W. Mishler, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born on January 20, 1930, in Winfield, KS, a son of the late Mack Sylvester and Winnie Ruby (Yost) Mishler.

On February 1, 1954, in Kennett, MO, he was united in marriage to Natalie Dunning, who survives of Sedalia.

Glenn was a 1947 graduate of East High School in Wichita, KS. He went on to further his education at the Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, MO where he received his Masters Degree in education, 1964. He began teaching in Ellington, MO, Hurley, MO and then was the Industrial Arts instructor at Miller MO High School, until moving to Sedalia. In January of 1978, he was one of the Auto Mechanics Instructors for the Vo-Tech Department of SFCC. Retiring in April of 1992 as the Machine Tool Instructor, but continued to substitute teach at the college until 2004. Glenn was an active member and former president of the Pettis County Crime Stoppers until 2007. He was also a member of Parkview Christian Church, Sedalia and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #99, Wichita, KS.

His favorite hobby was his family geneology. Which he spent many vacations and time finding his distant relatives and made many new friends. He also enjoyed working on tractors and old Chevys. He loved to watch team horse and draft horse competitions and steam engine demonstrations. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1954.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Michael Mishler (Karen) of Wichita, KS, James Mishler (Donita) of Topeka, KS, Kathryn Schnakenberg (Randy) of Concordia, MO, and David Mishler (Michelle) of Sedalia; one sister, Joy Boyd of Las Vegas, NV; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Mishler and one brother, Emmett Mishler.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Rev. Dr. Alan Gatewood officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel one hour prior to service.

Burial will be held Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown, near Springfield, MO.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Josh Mishler, Daniel Mishler, Aaron Davis, Jesse Schnakenberg, Eric Mishler and Shane Lovercamp (Ashley’s husband).

Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Robin Mishler, Erica Allen, Ashley Lovercamp, Brian Mishler and Samantha Mishler.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pettis County Crime Stoppers in care of the funeral chapel.
