Obituary For Glenn Dawson

Glenn Dean Dawson, 81, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on January 27, 1936 in Houstonia, MO, the son of Jess and Nellie (Messner) Dawson, who preceded him in death.

Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and gardening. He was an avid mushroom hunter and loved canning vegetables. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, and cartoons with the grandkids. He faithfully served his Country in the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton from 1953-1956. He served on the drill team and later as a Military Policeman in Hawaii. He fought in the Korean War. After his time in the service he worked on the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline as a machinist for thirty-five years before retiring. He also worked at Howard Construction Company as a welder until they closed.

He is survived by his children, Ray Priesmeyer (Paula) of Warsaw, Teresa Hoskins (Richard) of Sedalia, Kevin Reedy of Elyria, OH, Glenn Dawson, JR. of Albuquerque, NM, Kristy Dawson (Justin) of Windsor; two brothers, Clifford Dawson (Dorothy) of Houstonia and Tony Dawson (Pat) of Hutchison, KS; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, MO, with Bro. Pete Contreras officiating. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #2591.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veteran's Home of Warrensburg in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
