Obituary For Genice Cordelia Sims

Genice Cordelia Sims, 73, of Sedalia, MO passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on March 10, 1948 in Sedalia, the daughter of Warren Robinson and Vashti Simms, who preceded her in death.

Genice was a cosmetologist for 25 years and loved every minute of it. She also started a drill team called, "The Ebonette Strutters". Genice was a family woman and her favorite times were spent with her kids and grandkids. She loved the lord and especially enjoyed praising him with song. She spent her free time watching her "stories" such as, General Hospital.

Genice is survived by three daughters, Glenda Marsh (Jack) of Springfield, MO, Sydney Holt of Kansas City, MO and Jeanna McKernon (Angi) of Sedalia; two sons, Maurice Byrd (Misti), of Sedalia and Byron Byrd of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; twenty-one grandchildren LeKeya, Andrew, Justice, Janay, LJ, De'Andre, Alizae, Tateana, Nyla, Malachi, Diamond, Indiah, Autumn, Maurice Jr., Christopher, Felicia, Chanell, Bylekia, Breanna, Dikeshia and Gabby; thirty-two great grandchildren; four sisters, Lynn White of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy Evans of Chesapeake, VA, Donna Simms of Las Vegas, NV, Juanita Hartman of Sedalia; one brother, Warren Jackson of Sedalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Genice was preceded in death by one son, Alonzo Byrd; an infant son, Maurice Byrd; one sister, Karen Jones; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine; and one son-in-law Tyson Holt.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm, with Reverend Roger Sherman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

To The Family: May you find comfort in knowing she is with her Heavenly Father. I know it's hard not to be sad but when you remember all the goodness she shared and all the good times you had maybe that will take some of the pain away, if only for a moment. Rest In Peace my sister. You will forever be in the memory of those who Love and knew you. Cheryl (Molden) McIntyre
