Obituary For Gena Louise Buchanan

Gena Louise Buchanan, 59, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was born on December 9, 1963, in Sedalia, MO, the daughter of James Allan Vinson and Wilma Ester (Banty) Vinson, who preceded her in death.

On April 1, 2007, in Biloxi, MS, she was united in marriage to Jose Buchanan, who resides in the home.

Gena was a 1982 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She studied psychology during her college years. Gena was a certified welder. She worked for security at the Grand Casino in Biloxi, MS. Gena worked for Tyson and Starline Brass in Sedalia before she became ill.

Gena enjoyed reading, sewing, and being creative. She loved cooking and music of all types. Gena especially loved going to church and reading her bible.

In addition to her husband, Gena is survived by a daughter, Sarah Dawn Petty of Dixon, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gena was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Vinson, and a sister, Angela Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Thomas and Chaplain Chris Traffanstedt officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Scott, Lovell Curry, Joe Hernandez, Dylan Garcia, Austin Wood, and Tim Holland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
