Obituary For Freda Hughes

Freda M. Hughes, 83, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2016 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born on November 18, 1932 in Hamburg, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Dunlap) Mather, who preceded her in death.

On April 30, 1955 in Nebraska City, NE, she was united in marriage to Donald Dean Hughes, who preceded her in death.

Freda was the owner/operator of Hughes Supply Company from 1978 until she retired in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, flowering, and going to Lake of the Ozarks. She was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. The most important thing was her love for her children and family. She grew up at the end of the great depression and came from a modest background.She was determind to give her children a foundation of hard work and love for one another to set the foundation in their own lives. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that could be the spark to light any room she was in. An amazing, hard working, loving woman that will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by six children, Stephen Hughes (Terry) of Spexhall, England, Donna Patterson (Mitch Marquess) of Sedalia, Phillip Hughes (Tina) of Lake Dallas, TX, Kevin Hughes of Butte, MT, Kent Hughes (Missy) of Camdenton, MO, and David Lukosius of Camdenton, MO; one brother; four sisters; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Humansville Cemetery in Humansville, MO, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
