Obituary For Floyd Brown

Graveside services for Floyd James Brown, 93, Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Elijah Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Brown passed away at 5:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Fair View Nursing Home, Sedalia, Missouri. He was born August 9, 1924, at Howard Ridge, Missouri, to Ned Brown and Janie Smith Brown. On April 14, 1947, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Lorene Hensley, who preceded him in death on July 19, 1995. On April 8, 1996, he was married at West Plains, to Marcella E. Hambelton Smith, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2017. Mr. Brown was a veteran, having served with the United States Army as a Medic during World War II and a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. For thirty-six years, he was an elementary school teacher and principal. He is survived by one son, Mike Brown and wife, Rhonda, Sedalia, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Deb Brown, West Plains; nine grandchildren, Michelle Parkhurst and husband, Jon, Melissa Slaughter and husband, Bob, Trish Ferolito and husband, Nicholas, Travis, Brown, Scott Brown and wife, Krystal, Angela Pratt, Rob Brown and wife, Jennifer, Andy Brown and wife, Kristen and Jodie Hoover and husband, Brian; and eighteen great-grandchildren, Emma, Nick, Kennedy, Cassidy, Jade, Corbin, Ryley, Reece, Brittany, Brayden, Randi, Sydney, Griffen, Cade, Caroline, Marcus, Tanner and Colby. His parents, wives and two sons, Randy and Pat, preceded him in death. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Curry Street Church of Christ or Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Local arrangements under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
