Florine Erna Goosen, 98, of Smithton, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia, MO. She was born on December 3, 1925 in Cole Camp, MO, the daughter of Martin and Erna Harms, who have preceded her in death. Florine was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Church, Cole Camp.
On November 11, 1945, in Cole Camp, she was united in marriage to Orville George Goosen at Trinity Lutheran Church. Orville preceded her in death on August 11, 2011.
Florine worked at Lamy's Manufacturing and C.W. Flowers in downtown Sedalia. Orville and Florine owned and operated Cole Camp Hardware and then retired to the Smithton area. She enjoyed quilting, reading and playing her organ. Most of all, she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for 50 years. Florine served as President, Vice President and Secretary of LWML, taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and served on the alter guild.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Ray Goosen of Cisco, TX, and Wayne Ervin Goosen (Sherry) of Smithton; three granddaughters, Lindsey Conardy (Brian) of Sedalia, Lesie Means, Heather Clancy and Erikka Smith all of Louisiana; three grandsons, Matthew, Bradley and Mason Goosen; six great grandchildren, Cash and Colt Conardy, Shayla Sharp, Emma Smith, Asa Parker, and Dal Ray Goosen; two sisters, Alice Lee of Sedalia, and Deanna Balke of Cole Camp.
In addition to her husband and parents, Florine was preceded in death by eight siblings, Delphine Harms, Ervin Harms, Marvin Harms, Elvera Harms, Milton Harms, Harold Harms, Ruth Ann Harms, and Larry Harms; and a daughter-in-law, Dana Goosen.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Andrew Tessone officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Jim Goosen, Mason Goosen, Brian Conardy, Darren Balke, Randy Harms, and Terry Harms.
Honorary bearers will be Scott Harms, Greg Harms, Michael Harms, Jerome Goosen, Harry Goosen, Rusty Harms, Keith Harms, Steve Harms, Rick Balke, and Bob Hesse.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church Radio Ministry in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
