Eva Nell Bratton, 97, of Houstonia, MO, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO. She was born on November 6, 1919 in Hughesville, MO, a daughter of Walter Henry and Bessie Dee (Strole) Winters, who preceded her in death.
In May of 1937 she was united in marriage to C. M. "Buck" Bratton, who preceded her in death in May of 1991.
Eva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houstonia. She worked as a telephone operator for United Telephone Company retiring in 1965. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, sewing and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will miss visiting the sweet white house in the middle of Houstonia, listening to her play the piano while her daughters tried to harmonize, her yummy cooking and playing board games at her dinning room table.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela B. Husk (Steve) of Lee's Summit, MO and Carolyn Tobler (Vic) of Kennesaw, GA; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Boysen; a daughter, Voni Gilmour; and a son, Jerry Bratton.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
