Elwanda Irene Johnson

Elwanda Irene Johnson, 97, of Sedalia, MO passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on May 13, 1921 in Chadwick, MO the daughter of Walter Patrick and Ida Etta (Lewis) Ricard, who preceded her in death.

On March 31, 1942 in Ozark, MO she was united in marriage to Vernon Maxwell Johnson, who passed away June 7, 1997.

Elwanda loved spending time on Table Rock Lake with her husband. They had a pontoon boat that they thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved to play cards and spend time with her grandchildren who she dearly loved. The grandchildren affectionately called her "Grandma Suzy" after the little dog she love so much.

Survivors include her son Gary Johnson and wife Barbara of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Gary W. (Angel) Johnson of Sedalia and Kimberly (Monty) Murphy of Columbia, MO; three great-grandchildren, Mason Johnson (who currently serves in the US Navy), Joshua Johnson, and Kyle (Courtney) Murphy; and one great-great grandson, Weston Murphy.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Smith.

A private inurnment will be held in Springfield, MO.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of both Cedarhurst and Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Centers and Crossroads Hospice.
