Obituary For Ed Broyles

Edward F. "Ed" Broyles, Jr., 65, of Smithton, MO passed away Thursday, August 6th, 2015 at his home. He was born on August 29th, 1949 in Salem, MO, the son of Edward and Kathleen (Banks) Broyles, who preceded him in death. On December 23, 2000 he was united in marriage to Paulena Steinkuhler, who survives of the home. Ed loved camping, horses, and spending time on his farm. He was most known in the community for his preaching, counseling, and many years at Smith-Cotton and Whittier High Schools. His final sermon was at Hopewell Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for many years. Ed served his country honorably in the United States Army. Besides his wife, his family includes; Jennifer and John Peacock of Yorkville, IL and their children, Jack, Grant, and Addison; Sarah and Brad Rea of Sedalia, MO and their children, Andrea, Trevor, and Cooper; Paula and Dave DeBates of Columbia, MO and their children, Jessica, Brooke, and Raven; Duane and Nikki Frerking of Versailles, MO and their children, Akrista, Taylor, and Duanna; Grandma Idah Steinkuhler of Columbia, MO; and Jess Campbell of Tampa, FL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Sedalia, with Ron Jobe officiating. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015. Interment will be at Flat Creek Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the US Army National Guard, Warrensburg, MO. Pallbearers will be Gene Anderson, Eddie Saltsgaver, Jerry Shull, Dave Selvey, Dave Johnson, and Hugo Dennis. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hope Lodge of Kansas City, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
